Disney autograph books are a popular topic on the Disney forums; after all Disney characters are an important part of the Walt Disney World vacations experience. If you have children in your party then they may well enjoy collecting the autographs of their favourite Disney characters than experiencing the rides and attractions. But Disney autograph books aren’t just for children. In fact I didn’t collect my first autographs until I was 29 years old! I thought today I’d bring you some great vacation tips for collecting character autographs.

Disney Autograph Books Top Tips

  1. Make your own Disney autograph book. Sure you can buy one when you get there, but they’re quite expensive, and everyone has the same book. Let you or your kids stand out from the crowd with a personalised book. Buy a Disney journal from your local stationers and use stickers to decorate the pages. If you don’t have time to be creative you can download my Disney autograph book pages instead.
  2. Collect Disney autographs on a hat or t-shirt. If you plan to collect all of your autographs in one day simply carry a sharpie marker and ask the characters to autograph your hat. I seem to remember reading that characters can’t sign clothing if you’re wearing it so you may want to carry the tshirt in your bag. When you get home you can wear the hat or t-shirt and carry the memories of your trip with you. It would be great for your kids to wear during Show and Tell.
  3. Use index cards. Carry a stack of pre-decorated index cards with you for the characters to sign. Buy a great Disney photograph album from the World of Disney, or even from WalMart and then slip the index card into the album alongside the photograph of you or your children with the character. This is a great way of showing off your autograph collection and if your kids insist on collecting them every year becomes a keepsake to see how much they change and grow each year.
  4. Be prepared. Collecting Disney autographs is not an easy task; they are as popular as Disney World attractions and can command very long lines. You should let your kids know what to expect and perhaps bring something to keep them entertained while they wait. Once you near the front of the line have your camera switched on and ready, your autograph book open to the right page, and a pen that works! Don’t wait for your child to start posing with the character before you start taking photos. If you have a personalised autograph book some of the best interaction comes when the character sees their page – be ready to capture that Kodak moment!
  5. Collect them yourself. Finally, don’t forget that Disney autograph books aren’t just for children. Even if you have no kids in your party you can still get a kick out of meeting the characters and collecting their autographs. The characters don’t mind if you are 7 or 70! If you wonder what you’d do with a the autograph book back home, why not auction it off and donate the proceeds to a local kids charity, or the Make a Wish Foundation?
