Universal Studios announces new ‘Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit’ coaster
It seems Universal Studios are finally putting their hands in their pockets and investing in new attractions -- the new Simpson’s ride is opening very soon and now they have announced a new roller coaster for the park.
The park certainly needs some new blood -- although I’m not sure whether the coaster would be more at home in Islands of Adventure next door!
The attraction is scheduled for spring 2009 and will see guests going 65mph 17 stories over the Studios while listening to a music track you select yourself before *take off* -- oh and it’s all captured on video so you can share your thrills with your friends and family back home.
According to Orlando Attractions Magazine the ride touts “six near-miss moments and first-ever thrills including a record-breaking loop”. Hmm when we make the trip out next year I think I’ll remain on terra firma and just be a spectator for this one! I’m looking forward to capturing it on camera though ;0)

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit Finally Opens

After what seems like an absolute age the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit has finally opened at Universal Studio Orlando. This new one-of-a-kind coaster runs along 3,800 feet of track and rockets nearly 17 stories above Universal Studios. At one point you climb 167 feet in 16.5 seconds, and hits speeds up to 65 mph! But what makes this ride special is the customisable soundtrack that you can choose before you are launched out of the starting gate. You can choose from a wide range of music including classic rock, rap, country, pop and disco tracks that will play during your ride – meaning that no two rides are ever the same. You can even customise a music video of your ride to take home as a souvenir!
