Pocahontas and Friends show to close at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen the Pocahontas and her Forest Friends show as it was always billed as a pre-school show – and now it appears I’ve missed my chance.

Walt Disney World officials have announced that after a ten year run at Disney’s Animal Kingdom the show will close on September 27, 2008.

There are no plans for an immediate replacement – though I’m sure speculation will be rife in the Disney community as to what could take its place.

Fans of Pocahontas will be able to see her elsewhere in the park and according to spokeswoman Zoraya Suarez the rest of the 28-member cast and crew will be reassigned.

My favourite part of the Kilimanjaro Safari over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is seeing the elephants – especially when the ‘little ones’ are out and about and being mischievous. Last weekend 26 year old Mojo gave birth to a 327-pound male elephant – the newest addition, who hasn’t been named yet, is the heaviest calf ever born at the park.
