New for this trip

SnowmanBeing a repeat visitor to Walt Disney World brings with it a common question from friends and family: “why on earth are you going back there again??”

Well the answer to that question is simple: because we always have a wonderful holiday – and because there’s always something new to see and do!

So many people think that WDW is just the Magic Kingdom – and they can’t understand how you can spend two weeks at a theme park. But the Magic Kingdom is not Disney World – there are three other parks for a start, and two water parks, and a shopping village, and miniature golf courses, and real golf courses (if that’s your thing), and Resort hotels that are almost an attraction in themselves, oh and world-class restaurants, and spas… I’ll stop there before we all run out of breath – but I think you get the picture, right??

So here’s a run down of what’s going to be new and never-before-experienced for us this trip…

Because its Christmas…

Disney World is host to many different seasonal events, from the Flower & Garden Festival in the spring to the Food & Wine Festival in the autumn. So of course they go all out for Christmas! Holiday season actually kicks off on November 1, and as we are usually November travellers we have seen some of the amazing Christmas trees, and decorations, and even attended Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. But this year we’re going to see:

  • The Gingerbread House over at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa
  • The Osbourne Family Dancing Lights Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • The Holiday Storytellers at Epcot’s World Showcase
  • And to throw in some non-Disney seasonal fun…
  • ICE! at Gaylord Palms
  • The Polar Express Experienca at SeaWorld Orlando
  • Miracles – with Shamu at SeaWorld Orlando
  • Clyde & Seamore’s Countdown to Christmas at SeaWorld Orlando
  • Winter Wonderland on Ice at SeaWorld Orlando

New since our last visit…

The parks are always changing, with Imagineers dreaming up new attractions and shows. This year we’ll be able to experience for the first time:

  • Toy Storia Mania at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • The American Idol Experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Kim Possible at Epcot’s World Showcase
  • Spaceship Earth at Epcot (ok, not new, but it has been enhanced since our last trip!)
  • Aquatica – the new SeaWorld water park
  • Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village – mustn’t forget about the all new DVC Resort which is now our second home :)

Not yet got around to…

And there are always things that we just don’t have time to get to. So this year we’re definitely going to visit:

  • The Hall of Presidents at the Magic Kingdom
  • Jelly Rolls – Duelling piano bar at Disney’s Boardwalk

See? It’s not possible to fit it all in one vacation ;)
