New baby elephant gets a name
On July 2, 2008 I reported that Disney’s Animal Kingdom had welcomed a new baby elephant into the herd – and the newest addition to the park now has a name.
Disney officials wanted to give the baby an appropriate name – and as he is the largest calf born in the park they looked to Kenya’s largest national park for inspiration – and named the calf Tsavo (pronounced sah-vo).

Animal Kingdom welcomes baby elephant

My favourite part of the Kilimanjaro Safari over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is seeing the elephants – especially when the ‘little ones’ are out and about and being mischievous. Last weekend 26 year old Mojo gave birth to a 327-pound male elephant – the newest addition, who hasn’t been named yet, is the heaviest calf ever born at the park.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom welcomed its fourth baby giraffe of 2008 on September 28, when Nikki gave birth to baby Bonsu.
