Disney announces New Year’s Eve fireworks and festivities

Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney's Hollywood Studios
If you are planning on spending New Year’s Eve at Walt Disney World then here are the details you have been waiting for: the fireworks and festivities Walt Disney World has planned to welcome in 2009.
As always a kaleidoscope of colors and elaborate light and fireworks displays will decorate the skies on the final night of 2008. Guests will experience spectacular fireworks showers and live entertainment as Disney extends the park hours on December 31. It will be a popular place for holiday makers and locals alike so you should expect large crowds. To avoid disappointment you will need to arrive at your preferred park early as some may reach capacity.
Epcot
At Epcot, a special version of “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” will be presented at 7:40 p.m. and 11:50 p.m. The park will open from 8 a.m. and close at 1 a.m.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Disney’s Hollywood Studios will host “Fantasmic!” at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. Guests will be invited to “rock on” with live performances by the in-park band: “Mulch, Sweat and Shears,” and there will also be a DJ spinning tunes at Mickey’s Sorcerer’s Hat. A special “Lights, Camera, Happy New Year” fireworks show will bring in the new year at 11:50 p.m. The park will be open from 9 a.m. until midnight on December 31.
Magic Kingdom
Guests will be able to party at the Magic Kingdom until the small hours with parades and fireworks galore. “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade” will set the park aglow at at noon and 3 p.m., followed by the “SpectroMagic” parade at 7 and 10:30 p.m. The “Holiday Wishes” fireworks spectacular will take place at 8:30 p.m., and will be topped off with the grand finale “Fantasy in the Sky” fireworks at 11:50 p.m. The park will be open from 8 a.m. until 1 a.m.
Animal Kingdom
Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on December 31. Guests will be able to enjoy one of the final presentations of the romping character cavalcade “Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade” at 3:45 p.m.
I don’t know about you but I think if I were lucky enough to be in town I’d be heading over to the Magic Kingdom. I love the Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade (those roller skating Reindeer are fantasic) and it would be great to se the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks.
