If you’re looking for a cheap Disney vacation then you’ll probably find that hotels in the surrounding area are more within your budget. However if you are desperate to stay within the confines of the Resort you should seriously consider staying at the Fort Wilderness Campground.

This spacious resort campground has sites available for tent and RV camping; all equipped with a picnic table, grill and waste container. Amenities range from just water and electric right through to cable depending on how much you are willing to pay per night.

If the words camping and vacation don’t go together for you then consider renting one of the air-conditioned log cabins; all mod-cons but cheaper than a standard hotel room if you are travelling with a larger party.

If you have more vacation time than budget for theme park tickets then the Disney campground could be your answer. This resort offers more activities and amenities than the other more expensive Disney World hotels. How about a nightly campfire, with toasted marshmallows? A Disney movie or two? That’s just the beginning; you’ll also find two swimming pools and a beach, bike, canoe, boat and water-ski rentals, hay-rides, horseback riding and fishing. In fact there is so much to do here you could spend your whole vacation at Disney World and not set foot in a single theme park!

When you’ve worked up an appetite you have access to two convenience stores, a restaurant and a tavern. If you opt for the camping option you’ll find comfort stations with showers, toilets and laundry facilities within walking distance of all of the campsites.

We stayed in a cabin for our vacation last week (3/7-14/09) and loved it. Right now the main swimming pool is closed for renovation. The secondary pool is open and guests can also take the bus over to the Wilderness Lodge to use their pool.

Another benefit is fireworks without the crowds. The Wishes fireworks soundtrack from the Magic Kingdom is played on the beach at the resort and guests can gather on the lounge chairs there to watch the show.
