The Contemporary Resort is one of the two original Disney World hotels. It is located on the monorail loop that serves the Magic Kingdom in between Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon. The resort is a large A-frame building and the fourth floor is home to the Grand Canyon Concourse and monorail station.

What are the rooms like?

Guest rooms are among the largest of the Disney World resorts. In the rooms you will find a small refrigerator, a safe, a coffee maker, and iron and ironing board. The rooms are also wired for High Speed Internet Access for daily fee.

The Contemporary Resort has two sections; the A-frame tower is 14 stories tall and home to 500 guestrooms. Rooms overlook Bay Lake or the Magic Kingdom and parking lot. The Garden Wing can be found south of the tower and houses a further 250 rooms which have a water, garden or parking lot view. Rooms in the tower are the expensive. The original north Garden Wing rooms were torn down in 2007 and the area is now home to the Disney Vacation Club resort Bay Lake Tower.

Concierge rooms are available on floors 12 from 14. Both standard rooms and suites are available with a nightly turn down service. Concierge staff are available from 7 AM to 10 PM to help you with dining reservations, outings and any questions you might have about the Disney World Resort.

What are my eating options?

The Contemporary Café on the fourth floor serves breakfast, lunch and dinner while the Sand Bar located by the pool serves burgers, sandwiches and ice cream.

There are also three full-service restaurants at the Contemporary Resort. The California Grill is located on the 15th floor of the tower with stunning views of the Magic Kingdom and the surrounding areas.

The Wave restaurant can be found on the first floor and serves upscale dishes such as grilled pork tenderloin and lamb shank. The Wave offers a full-service breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Finally Chef Mickey’s restaurant offers a character breakfast with Mickey Mouse and friends and an evening character dinner with a buffet.

What recreational activities will I be able to enjoy?

There are two swimming pools at the Contemporary; the largest pool has a 17-foot high curving slide and there is also a quiet pool. Please note that guests cannot swim in the lake.

There are a wide variety of other recreational activities including watercraft rental and bass fishing excursions. More adventurous guests can enjoy waterskiing and parasailing. The Resort has a fitness centre, a large video arcade, two basketball hoops, and a beach volleyball court.
